Surprise!

So after a lot of work over the past couple of weeks, I've got something to share with you all... No, The Shattered War isn't finished. But I do have a shiny new video to show! This is a video walkthrough of one of the major areas within the module: Fort Velen.

In addition, I've also added three new hi-res screenshots to my slideshow that's on the left of this blog. The source images are 1680 by 1050 - I don't have a 24" monitor so I can't go up to 1920 by 1200. (If you want them that big, then you'll have to donate to the "buy AmstradHero a new monitor" fund) To give you a closer look, I've posted one of them below, and as per usual, click for a larger image.

Running urgently to Fort Velen's keep

You can also access the Picasa album these images are in by following this link. Happy viewing!

  2. 24 inch monitors only go up to 1920x1200 ;)
the new one which are all 16x9 now like tvs are actually only 1920x1080. (aka 1600x900)

I have decided definitely that obsidian is the buggiest piece of garbage and will soon join this wagon. I am keeping up to date here to learn what I can.

The only thing that concerns me is a post where you showed that the naming of all placeables seems completely meaningless... how have you navigated this blind search? Seems like it would be an impossible time sink.

  3. I like how you've put much thought into all the small details. Looking forward to this.

  4. That's really quite neat! I liked the backstory for the area and what that meant for the architecture.

  5. EE: My bad, I was trying to remember the resolutions off the top of my head. I'll amend the post to say 1920x1200 instead of 1920x1280.

The placeable naming is initially impenetrable, but it does follow a naming convention, so once you know that it becomes a lot easier. Plus you can filter options in a text box about the model list. Looking for a roof? Type in roof and you'll only see models with that in the name. Wall, pillar, barrel, rubble... It can become fairly quickly after a bit of experience. I found my speed was improving rapidly even just across this level.

  6. So you are saying it isnt randomly named then, just the groups were?

Thats good. Bioware has if nothing else a history of quality games that are polished off (even though I didnt like nwn1 as a game) so I am quite confindent with the product. Maybe I'll reinstall and open the toolset today while my nwn2 campaign finishes pre release test.

Anywhere anyone can point me to start with the DA toolset or just open up and go?

  7. Do a few basic tutorials then you could just start by experimenting. If you have experience with GECK/CS then it's going to be easier. There are a few tutorials at the site in my name.

  8. The only thing I cant find so far (Ive built a 2 level area with transition) is how to run the module Ive made. Why do they give you all these wiki tutorials then dont tell you how to run a test run?

I remember having that issue myself. I've written a short explanation: http://csyvertsen.net/?page_id=558

If it's useful, I'll upload it to the wiki.
