The Shattered War - RELEASED!

You can now play The Shattered War!

Please download it from:
http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/4606?

Download, upvote, tell your friends, play and enjoy.  I sincerely hope you enjoy the adventure, as it's been a tremendous undertaking to complete.

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of ridiculous amounts of testing, bug fixing and overall improvements to the mod in terms of flow, appearance, and overall polish. While I'll be the first to admit it's still by no means perfect, it's now reached a state where I'm happy to say that I've put in the required effort to be happy with it as a release. I am hopefully that there will not be a need to do any significant bug-fix updates to the mod.

Please, download The Shattered War and enjoy another adventure in Thedas.

  1. Hey :)

I just found this. If it's not too much trouble, could you explain what the mod is about and give a short TL:DR of the team characters in it?

I'd have to unearth my DA:O copy and reinstall everything before playing this and I'd jut like to know what I'm getting into so tos peak.

    1. There is a description of the mod at the nexus mod's link, but as an abbreviated description:

Starting with an entirely new character, you will be exploring the areas and villages around the Frostback Mountains dealing with a darkspawn threat. You *will* need to make choices about who to side with, and these will have an effect on the ultimate outcome of everyone there. You will be deciding whether people live or die, and sometimes good decisions are hard to make.

You will have three companions to help you on this journey:
Taraz - An outcast dwarf who was a victim of Orzammar power-plays, but seeks to regain his lost honour.
Fialeth - A city elf driven by her desire to kill darkspawn.
Saraali - A dalish trying to make her way in the world and prove that the dalish should focus on the future rather than their lost past.

So far one person has indicated that they have finished the mod, and it took them around 10 hours - though apparently they effectively skipped all combat (they have modded DAO such that it makes combat trivial). Though keep in mind that due to the decisions you make during the game, each playthrough can have very different outcomes.

  2. Rest assured that the combat definitely will cater for a variety of skill levels and difficulty tastes. With some custom scripting, I'm aiming to provide a slightly wider spread of difficulty from Easy to Nightmare. Those who really want a challenge will get one, but Easy and Normal will be roughly equivalent to the main game.
